Much to my father's amusement and many others I have decided to refrain from drinking any alcohol through February, all this talk about detox in January made me think I should give it a go! (afterall it is the shortest month!) It's been 6 days so far and I cannot believe I'm managing it. This has a lot to do with the whole of Decembers debaurchery. Christmas was tremendous and we were spoilt by some choice offerings from the cellar.

 Boxing Day proved to be the killer, with Drappier NV Cuvee Speciale and Millenium 1995 (2000) to wet the appetite we moved onto Sauzet Puligny Montrachet La Garienne 2000, Rene Engel 1999, Louis Jadot Clos de Roche Grande Cru 1997, Armand Rousseau 1999, Bouchard Vosne Romanee 2001, Chateau Y'quem 1991, Duschke Muscat NV and the Sun dried Shiraz NV. Phew.........

Just when we thought that wasn't enough we opened a 1919 Chateau Montrose and 1966 Mouton Rothschild (unfortunately wasn't up to much) So we buried our heads in some Eileen Hardy 1996 Shiraz and Broken Graveyard 1995 Shiraz.

So maybe now you can see why the liver needs a rest. However don't let that stop you all from  drinking (there's more to have whilst I'm taking a break!)
